Resolving the growing deficit of qualified employees for Information Communication Technologies and Digital Media (ICT/DM) is a priority for the Deputy Sector Navigator, Paula Hodge, and College of the Canyons. ICT/DM is an umbrella term, widely used outside the U.S. and in the United Nations, to encompass all rapidly emerging, evolving and converging computer, software, networking, telecommunications, Internet, programming, information systems and digital media technologies.
Being part of the California State initiative “Doing What Matters”, this division will collaborate with private industry, educational institutions, faculty and other workforce entities to identify and act on opportunities that will benefit business, students and the California economy. The key activities under this framework include: determine gaps in the workforce; promote integration of workforce training and employment; strengthen programs within the sector at high school and college levels; provide incumbent worker training; promote opportunities for contract education and faculty professional growth.
